Minty the Imperial Dalek
October 2004
July 2005
Building Minty the Imperial Dalek was quite a challenge.
There were many parts to the project, which all required different skills, tools and materials.
To make things as logial as possible I decided to build the different sections seperately, starting with the neck, moving to the head dome and then down from the neck, ending up with the fender which provides a kind of platform for the body to sit on. Painting Minty required some careful thought as I needed a solution that was hard wearing.

"Attack of the Cybermen" style suit
March 2004
June 2004
I have always liked the Cybermen, strong, imposing and scary would be some of the words I’d use to sum them up ! The biggest thing was they could climb stairs, so unlike Daleks you couldn’t run away as easily !
Building my Cyberman suit was quite a challenge as it required some latex panels for the suit that could not simply be built with materials and a set of plans. I chose to build an 'Attack of the Cybermen' style suit, as this story featured the return of the Cyber Controller. Painting it proved to be a challenge.

TARDIS
September 2006
November 2006
The TARDIS was a totally new challenge. as it was going to be able to be totally disassembled in order to move it around. I was lucky enough to be able to measure the prop stored at the BBC, to gain a set of accurate measurements. The biggest challenge was deciding how large the prop should be. Due to the enourmous height of the TARDIS I opted to build mine at 80% size. Had I built it at 100% size, it would not have fitted in my workshop, or in Minty's transport. Painting the TARDIS to achieve a good clone of the original was a whole new challenge !
